You cannot under value passionate employee commitment and loyalty. It does a company good. Without the dedication of some of RTGX’s original founding employees and a few just amazing new ones we could not have accomplished the design of and move to our new facility at UMBC’s Research Park North. We are almost ready for that open house everyone keeps asking us about.

In the meantime we are settled in and getting to work and making it happen. We have been in just about 60 days and already have hosted members of the Department of Defense in our new training facility. We got to put some of the new technology in our training room to use such as our new smart interactive whiteboard system. Really cool stuff. It makes presentations and collaboration so much easier plus it saves on paper.

We have also put our new collaboration and meeting rooms to great use as well. We have held some pretty good meetings with business partners, members of the community as part of our continuing charitable and community efforts and numerous RTGX University sessions with this year’s batch of RTGX interns. The RTGX university sessions are a first for our internship and mentorship programs at RTGX. Developed in combination with various RTGX departments the curriculum included sessions on web development, government security clearances, sales and marketing and training in various Microsoft software solutions. Oh and yes, I think we have started a new trend – everyone one who has had the opportunity to visit us for a meeting in our new main conference room, spends at least some part of their visit staring at the fish in our 73 gallon floating aquarium and vowing to get one.

While we were busy unpacking and settling in to our new workspaces, SmartCEO Magazine nominated and selected RTGX’s CEO as the recipient of the magazine’s Brava award. The award recognizes the accomplishments of women in business but also their contributions to our society through charitable work. Our CEO is definitely deserving! She leads RTGX through its day-to-day business challenges and accomplishments but has found the time to support and mentor young people from the community and around the country. Our CEO is hands on with the efforts of Greater Baltimore Cares, a non profit foundation founded by RTGX’s CEO but also through her support and hands on efforts with organizations such as the Links Inc., Leadership 500 and countless other organizations. The Greater Baltimore Cares Board is coming along with some incredible and committed members from the community.

We can’t forget the food. There are several great lunch and dinner spots near our offices that are killing our summer diets! One of our favorite lunch spots is Dusenberg’s American Café and Grill. They make one of the best burger’s in the area — seriously, this place’s burgers are something to write home about! I cannot forget the shrimp salad sandwiches this place makes as well… huge shrimp and no fillers anywhere. We also have discovered a great gourmet seafood restaurant, Catonsville Gourmet. While they do not have a liquor license, you can bring your own spirits and enjoy top-notch seafood and steaks. The dessert menu is filled with fresh baked cakes from a local bakery and regardless of whatever diet you find yourself on this summer, the desserts in this place cannot be resisted! Can’t forget the tempura soft shell crabs either. Ok, last one, the fried oysters too – divine!
